2013 Flu Vaccine

A new form of flu vaccine needs to be made most years to protect you against the exact strains that are expected to be the most common.

This type of vaccine will protect you in fall and winter and also protect you against H1N1 (swine flu). You don’t need any other type of flu vaccine.

Flu vaccine there are two kind: flu shot and a nasal spray.
  • Flu shot vaccine contain inactive viruses. Flu shot is approved for people age from 6 months and older.
  • High dose version of flu shot vaccine, this kind of vaccine is used for people 65 and older. But still don’t know if higher dose vaccine is better to protecting from flu.
  • Nasal spray flu vaccine or called as FluMist uses a live, weakened virus instead of a dead virus one. This kind of vaccine is use for healthy people with age from 2 to 49 but not in pregnant condition. It is not recommended for people who have asthma or children under 5 years who have repeated wheezing episodes.
In United States usually use in October because this is the beginning of flu season. But for people who travel to other countries should be know that flu may occur at different times of the year from where you stay.
