MMR Vaccines

MMR in medical activity is use for vaccine of measles, mumps and rubella. These three kind of diseases often found in children on the mid of 1970s. On the recent decade these diseases have been avoided by vaccination, even this vaccine available for each diseases, in the 1980s have been combined into a single vaccines named MMR.

The MMR vaccine producer warned of contraindications of this vaccine and adverse reactions associated with this triple shot, like the relationship of MMR vaccines and Autism. The following afflictions affecting nearly every body system, blood, lymphatic, digestive, cardiovacular, immune, nervous, respiratory and sensory have been reported following receipt of the MMR shot encephalitis, encephalopathy, neurological disorder, seizure disorders, convulsions, learning disabilities, subacute sclerosing panencephalitis (SSPE), demyelination of the nerve sheaths, Gillain Barre syndrome (paralysis), muscle incoordination, deafness, panniculitis, vaculitis, optic neuritis (including partial or total blindness), retinitis, otitis media, bronchial spasms, fever, headache, joint pain, arthritis (acuted and chronic), transverse myelitis, thrombocytopenia (blood clotting disorders and spontaneouos bleeding), anaphylaxix (severe allergic reactions), lymphadenopathy, leukocytosis, pneumonitis, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, erythema multiforme, urticaria, pancreatitis, parotitis, inflammatory bowel disease, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, meningitis, diabetes, autism, immune system disorders, and death

These three diseases are now have great reduced, unlike the natural diseases, the MMR vaccine does not confer permanent immunity. According to the CDC, measles transmission has been clearly documented among vaccinated persons. The Journal of the America Medical Association published data showing that antibody levels after rubella vaccinations fell to half their high point within four years.

MMR Vaccines Causes Autism

This still become a pro and contra about vaccination can causes an autism to children. The Royal free hospital in London have called a press conference to unveil the result of a new study. Andrew Wakefield said had discovered a new syndrome that they believed was triggered by the MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccines. Eight of 12 children in their study, found severe intestinal inflammation, with the symptoms striking six days, on average, after the children received the MMR. The vaccine had damaged the intestine, then measles part had caused serious inflammation, allowing harmful protein to leak from the gut into the bloodstream and from there to the brain, where they damaged neurons in a way that triggered autism. Even this happening still become controversy as the scientist can’t explain about the relationship between MMR vaccine and Autism, but the hospital can’t support continue to use MMR until this issue has been resolved.

Then other scientist extracting genetic material from children’s gut biopsies, looking for evident of measles from the MMR. After several sample been tested essentially all the samples tested were negative. Andrew Wakefield then explain again on the meeting that he would only talk about data that supported his hypothesis.

US health officially recommend 35 by age 6 should get MMR vaccine. Autism incident was rising for reason scientists could not fully explain. In California, for instance, autism incident had risen from 6.2 per 10,000 births in 1990 to 42.5 in 2001. This publication of autism causes by MMR, rates of MMR vaccinations in Britain fell down from 92 percent to below 80%. Although there was no comparable nationwide decrease in the US.

In 2002, pathologist John O’Leary of Coombe Women’s Hospital in Dublin reported that he had found RNA from the measles virus in 7 percent of normal children but in 82 percent of those with autism, suggesting that some children are unable to clear the vaccinated virus from their systems, resulting in autism. From Utah State University also reported of high levels antibodies against measles virus in the blood and spinal fluid of autism children, the MMR, has triggered a hyperimmune response that attacked the children’s brain.

From so many issue and experience then on July 7, 1999, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the U.S. Public Health Service issued a warning about the preservative in many vaccines. Called thimerosal, it contains 49.6 percent ethylmercury by weight and had been used in vaccines since the 1930s, including the diphtheria/tetanus/pertussis (DTP) and Haemophilus influenzae (Hib) vaccines (but not the MMR). The experts tried to be reassuring, saying in a statement there are "no data or evidence of any harm" from thimerosal. But, they continued, children's cumulative exposure to mercury from vaccines "exceeds one of the federal safety guidelines" for mercury. (By 2003, most childhood vaccines did not contain thimerosal, though flu vaccines still did.) The AAP statement did not mention autism.
